At Yellowstone National Park
on Jul 31 in graphics, word byThe recap of going to through yellow stone park. It was pretty amazing the first thing I saw was a lot burned out trees because of the fire a few years back, but was was amazing a lot little pines were growing in the places below the trees. I guess nature knows how to take care of itself.
Next driving through I stop at a store that they have at each opening tom the park. Bought a few things namely water and a bear bell. Just weeks before a couple was attacked by a grizzly and I really did not want to be part of the kind of ending to my life. So headed out and I stopped at place called ice lake. The area was burned out but they had cut a path through to camp areas and the lake. I hiked in for about 4 miles and enjoyed the lake as a splash on my burned arms and legs.
After that bit of a hike I was driving further through to get to old faithful. On the way you see bison almost every where. People were nuts and were getting out of there vehicles to take pictures. I stayed in my jeep and just took them in from there. This isn’t a zoo and these animals can get spooked and run over you… No thank you.
Next I Stopped at grey geyser and hot springs. Was pretty cool to see the vibrant blue color in the water. The smell of sulphur was a bit over whelming, but the colors were amazing. I took normal pictures but used a new photo filter for pictures to bring out the blue color.
Ah, finally made to old faithful. This geyser explodes every 90 minutes and you can bet on that. The area is really over commercialized and I found the experience less satisfying, other than saying that I had seen old faithful. I waited and got more burned and the lines for food take 45 minutes to get through. Probably the best time to go here is in fall when the crowds are smaller and the snow hasn’t arrived yet.
Then as an experience went to mammoth hot spring. Well they’re cool, but it really looks like an area that has been bombed out. No life and people are drawn to these springs; you can’t even go in them. At this point I might be a bit moody because I was thirsty and burnt to a crisp. I did not even make it half way down the trail before I felt I was going to explode for the pain from my sunburn (I had not been burned in years.)
That’s it in a nutshell, it is a great park and a lot to do. If you attempt to go bring water, sun screen, a bear bell, a tent, good shoes and camping stuff of course and plan on staying a week. There is so much to do there and 2 days just not get it done.
